Meticulous Sample Handling

All samples are treated with the highest degree of care at Labwest. From weighing of samples to intrumental determination, data is captured directly from the instrument to avoid the possibility of transcription errors. Disposable labware is used where possible, to reduce the risk of contamination.

Microwave Digestion

The use of microwave digestion for sample preparation has many technical advantages. The sealed digestion vessels ensure: no cross contamination retention of volatile elements intensive digest conditions (180°C, 18 bar)

Analysis by ICP-OES and ICP-MS

LabWest utilises current-generation analytical instrumentation for determination of analyte concentration. Trace elements are determined by ICP-Mass Spectrometry (Perkin Elmer Nexion 300Q) to very low levels, and major nutrient elements are determined by ICP-Optical Emission Spectrometry (Perkin Elmer Optima 7300DV).

Quality Controls

Industry best-practice is followed for quality control. This includes the in- rack processing of reagent blanks, duplicate sample analysis and certified reference materials.
